Ms. Malacari
My name is Ms Gillian Malacari and I am the new Orchestra Director at EWHS. It is with such joy that I come to this position, to continue work with many students I have worked with before at College Place Middle School and Maplewood K-8, and meet many more incredibly dedicated and passionate musicians. I have seen the outstanding work EWHS Orchestras have shared over the years and I can’t wait to continue building on this history of musical excellence. We have so much good music-making ahead of us!
Just a little about me. I came to the US from Australia in 2008, following my husband who was hired to teach at University of Washing ton as a Professor of Archaeology. What a stunning place for us to land! I have taught Orchestra and General Classroom Music from PreK-12 in Australia, Asia and in the US and have been with the Edmonds School District since 2013. I have examined for the International Baccalaureate Organization for many years and currently serve as a staff conductor with the Cascade Youth Symphony Orchestra. I have two teenage boys – so I am on the parent journey of high schoolers as well. I enjoy going to concerts of every genre, traveling, playing my violin and running, reading and just being with my family, including my big Cream Golden Retriever named Schubert.
