BEL CANTO is EW’s Concert Choir open to all grades. No prior singing experience is required. Bel Canto a year long class singing a variety of choral concert music. We perform five home concerts each year including Masterworks in collaboration with chamber orchestra & two choral festivals.
MELLO-AIRES is EW’s Jazz Choir consisting of 12-18 singers who sing one-on-a-mic and with a rhythm section of piano, bass and drums. In 2018 they performed for the Washington Music Educators Association Conference in Yakima, NW American Choral Directors Association Conference in Portland and were awarded best large vocal jazz ensemble by Downbeat Magazine. In 2020 they performed for the Jazz Education Network Conference in New Orleans. Check out their album, Overjoyed. They perform a variety of jazz styles at festivals and concerts throughout the year. During December Mello-Aires usually has a dozen community holiday a cappella performances. Auditions take place in June for the following year.
