As winter comes at us quickly, we have much to be grateful for! We had two very successful fundraisers which would not have worked without your help! In late October, we held our fourth annual mattress fundraiser where we earned $7,925 for the Music Boosters! Then, just two weeks later, our Citrus Sale fundraiser closed with 204 boxes sold, a fantastic total! If you ordered citrus for your family, it will arrive soon!
We had a wonderful orchestra festival on November 18th, and we’re looking forward to several great events in the next month! In addition to our winter concerts on December 6th (orchestras), December 13th (bands), and December 14th (choirs), you can come see The Mello Aires, who are caroling at 2 events in December: Bellevue Festival of the Nativity on Wednesday, 12/7 from 7-8 and at the Lodge at St. Edwards Park on Thursday, 12/15 from 6:30 to 7:30pm. Both are public events. You can also join us at Romeo’s the last Tuesday of every month, from 7 to 9pm across the street from EWHS. The next opportunity will be Tuesday December 27th.
Congratulations to our own Gillian Malacari, who was selected as representative of Washington State for ’50 Directors Who Make a Difference’ in SBO+ Magazine (School, Band and Orchestra +) She will be featured in the December issue.
Congratulations to the following students:
Sophia McCann, who was accepted into All-NW on her Violin
Audrey Chen, who was accepted into All-State on her Cello
Evelyn Chow, who was selected as a finalist in the Western international band clinic honor band. She played as one of 30 clarinets in an ensemble of over 200 students with some of the top composers and conductors in the field
Ryan Phan, who was selected for the All NW Jazz Choir
Big Thanks going out to the LASH Quartet (11th Graders Lenna, Amy, Stephanie and Hailey) for playing at Edmonds Art walk, and to our EWHS jazz combo including Don Tran, Forest Aubree, Max Bartron, and Nick Reinert. They performed for the Edmonds School District Foundation benefit dinner on October 28 at the Edmonds Waterfront Center as well as the Daily Herald Benefit event on November 10 at the Edmonds center for the arts.
Volunteers Wanted!
• The Boosters will need help passing out citrus boxes the week of December 12th. Keep an eye out for a signup genius!
• Do you like to drive? We could use some parent drivers willing to get on the list to drive children to some of the offsite music activities around town that aren’t quite field trips, but would be beneficial to any music student. If you’d like to sign up as a driver, just inquire in the main office!
• Finally, we’ll also need two volunteers to staff our greeting tables at our concerts on December 6th (orchestra), 13th (band), and 14th (choir). If you can volunteer, please contact Jennifer Castle at castlefisheriesjen@gmail.com to give her the good news!
