Hot Java Cool Jazz 3/29

Participating in the 27th Annual Starbucks Hot Java Cool Jazz concert at the Paramount was the realization of life-long dream for many of our students. It was such an incredible experience to be part of an event like this, alongside four other top high school jazz bands in Puget Sound, including Mountlake Terrace, Garfield, Roosevelt, and Mount Si. This concert was also a significant fundraising opportunity for all participating schools as 100% of the proceeds are donated back by event sponsor Starbucks. Here is what they had to say about Hot Java and the Value of the Arts. https://stories.starbucks.com/stories/2024/starbucks-hot-java-cool-jazz-is-a-testament-to-the-value-of-the-arts/ (Those are our students in the lead photo).

DISTRICT BUDGET CHALLENGES & JEN’S NEW ADVOCACY BLOG
https://ewhsmusic.com/take-action/.
https://ewhsmusic.com/2024/03/27/advocacy-blog/
It is time to TAKE ACTION. We already know that 5th and 6th grade ensemble music is being looked at for a district wide cut. In a few weeks, each school Principal will develop their staffing plan and courses that will be offered for next year. They will also be given their budget for teaching (called FTE, 1.0 FTE means one full-time equivalent position). This is the time that individual school classes can be cut. You will also learn more from our Boosters President Jennifer Castle through her new Advocacy Blog.
